Flaine, which has been very well connected for 50 years.

FRIENDLY HOTEL

This Wednesday the weather is great. The sun makes the snow that has fallen heavily over the last few days on Flaine glisten, covering the rough concrete buildings that stand at the foot of the slopes and the century-old fir trees. "Never mind, I'm going, I like it" , one says to oneself when observing this scenery without a chalet in Flaine, paraphrasing Jean Dubuffet whose monumental sculpture stands in front of the Hotel Terminal Neige - Totem. Tomorrow, the Haute-Savoie resort celebrates its 50th anniversary. And the one that was inaugurated exactly on January 17, 1969, in the communes of Magland and Arâches-la-Frasse, continues to surprise for its singular architecture, which either pleases or disturbs, and which is in any case the talk of the town.

The "beautiful story" continues to be written. The three-star hotel Terminal Neige - Totem was bought in 2015 by the Sibuet family (Les Fermes de Marie in Megève, the Terminal Neige Refuge du Montenvers in Chamonix), determined to enhance all the resort's codes. What an experience to stay in this "friendly" hotel that mixes concrete, pop and street art. An art. A very vintage Pac-Man game adjoins the spacious restaurant with its seventies décor, with metal furniture covered in orange fabric and raw concrete pillars lined with cowhide. Breur's fireplaces attract the curious; the fireplace in the XXL suite rather attracts art lovers. Street art frescoes line the staircase leading to the 96 rooms. Their author, Wozdat, recounts the famous history of the Bauhaus, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

The Hotel Terminal Neige - Totem, 3-star hotel in Flaine Forum. Ski in, ski out (with an integrated rental shop), this friendly address caters for children with dedicated menus and buffet, as well as for adults, with a Pure Altitude spa, featuring three treatment cabins and a relaxation area extending to an outdoor Jacuzzi. The rooms are functional, combining seventies design and container under the concrete beams and cow skins on the walls. No minibar.
